Wolfstein Culinary Hike
Germans are great at combining hiking, food, and wine. Come out for the 6th culinary wine-hike on Sat 04/21 and Sun 04/22/2018. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and the warm spring sun. Along the hiking path, which is approximately 4 miles, you can enjoy several wines and other drinks from Palatinate vintners. Every station will also offer their unique culinary delight. There will be live music, gastronomic specialties, wines, and a children's program. USO Event - Hohnecken Castle (Cancelled)
Head to Burg Hohenecken on April 22nd for a USO organized event from 9:45-11:30. A walk up to the Hohenecken Castle is exciting: not only to enjoy the panoramic view over the Palatinate Forest, but also to explore the castle from the Hohenstaufen period. It was built out of the local red sandstone in the 12th century and then destroyed in 1688. Come and hear the tales of the buried treasure or Maid Hildegard of Hoheneck. Discover the uses of the various chambers with many details from life in the Middle Ages. Wear sturdy shoes - no strollers, please! Kaiserslautern Farmer's Market Fest April 21st
The market will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., per the usual schedule. This Saturday the city market will be hosting its annual market festival. There will be loads of samples being handed out by farmers and vendors and special activities to celebrate this special event. If you haven't been to the Kaiserslautern Farmers Market, this is a great time to check it out. They have offerings of fruits, cheese, vegetables and sausages, fish and bakery products, flowers and plants. The market takes place on the Stiftsplatz.
Kinder Volksmarch April 22nd
On Sunday, April 22nd from 11 AM - 3 PM, USO Kaiserslautern will host a 2 mile Volksmarch in celebration of the Month of the Military Child! Community organizations will be out along the route with fun activities for the children. We will be giving away prizes and FREE food! Our Mobile Canteen will be out serving hot dogs, popcorn and beverages. We will have craft tables, games and so much more! Registration will close at 14:00. Must have base access!
Kaiserslautern Community Schools Festival and 5k Fun Run - April 20th
Kaiserslautern Community Schools are hosting a Festival and 5k Fun Run next Friday, 20 April from 1500- 1800. Kaiserslautern HS PTSO is proud to participate and will be sponsoring a booth with game and snack and Raider gear sales! Please join us to help this event be successful! Sign up to help us set up, sell Raider gear and snacks, manage the games, clean up, etc. Thank you and see you at the Festival! Must have base access!

Imsel Museum and Mines
On Sunday, April 22nd, the Imsel mines will offer English Speaking tours from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no advance registration required and the cost is 4,00 for adults and 2,00 for kids. This fee includes both the mine tour and entry to the museum. In the Historical Museum of Mining, Pfälzisches Bergbaumuseum, you will find an extensive collection of beautiful minerals and other natural resources found in the area. There are also three historic hiking trails that run through the forests of Imsbach. Numerous signs alongside the paths explain the town’s mining history. Month of the Military Child Carnival Saturday, April 21, 2018, 11:30 - 13:00. Bring the family out to Donnelly Park Saturday, 21 April from 11:30-13:00 to celebrate the strength and resiliency of your children for the Month of the Military Child Carnival! For the Penquin Lovers!
Luisenpark in Mannheim will be putting on a penguin event to observe World Penguin Day to bring awareness to the Humboldt penguins, which are under serious threat. They will have feedings at 1100 and 1500 and talks about these delightful animals. The kids will be able to do experiments, create a penguin mask, puzzles, create a protected habitat for penguins and receive a penguin diploma. There will also be a raffle which you can win an exclusive tour with the penguins. If you've not been to this amazing park, this is a great opportunity!
