Hansel-Fingerhut-Fest in Forst on the Wine Route

Check out this very unique fest they have in Forst an der Weinstraße.  I've attached a video for further clarification.  This is a fest that goes back almost 300 years and it's focus is on expelling winter.  There is a "fool-figure" named Hansel-Fingerhut who accompanies the fight between summer and winter.  There will be large large cones made of ivy or straw, containing a man in each, which will represent summer and winter.   They battle and in the end, summer should prevail and drive out winter.  This will be a spectacle to see.  There is also a large bonfire that takes place, coffee, cakes and snacks for spectators, and a merry-go-round for the kids.  Check this out Sunday for a unique experience.  Sunday, March 11th, 14:00-16:00, Ziel Christoph Traberger Halle 67147 Forst an der Weinstraße. www.forst-pfalz.de
