Liberated Witches and Hags!

Go Wild Ladies!

This Thursday, Feb 8th, a tradition that dates back to the 15th century will take place: Alterweiberfasching (Old Women's Fasching).  Head over to the Rathaus (City Hall) in Ramstein Miesenbach at 11:11 a.m. to see a group of witches and old women rush the courthouse,  kidnap a bunch of men, and tie them up!  This day is from an important time in history when women decided to take back control and be fully liberated.  The message is strong, but the observance is light-hearted, kid friendly, and very entertaining.

Here is how it will unfold:

1.  Women in disguise will storm the Ramstein Miesenbach rathaus at  11:11 a.m.

2.  They will capture men once inside

3.  The men will be taken outside and tied to the "Narrenbrunnen" or Fool's Fountain

4.  The women will cut the men's ties.  The men will be set free only after paying a fee of at least 1.11 Euros.

On Friday, Feb 9th, the city of Kaiserslautern will host a Kid's Fasching Party!  Fasching week is a huge party and kids are definetely part of the fun! Bring your kids, big or small out for an afternoon of music, dance, and fun.  There will be face painting, games, disguises and much more for the kids to enjoy.  Bring your little superhero, monster, witch or clown out for a fun afternoon!
