Sankt Martin!

It’s Saint Martin Time! For the past few weeks, the children will have been busy making their lanterns for the parade happening this evening. They will be marching, lanterns lit, through their villages signing songs of the beloved Saint Martin. Many residents will decorate their yards with paper lanterns, and meet in the village square to join the festivities. After the parade, there are many areas holding bonfires, accompanied by warm drinks, treats for the children, and fun.

Traditionally, the Martinsumzüge take place in November. This beautiful and old custom has remained alive in many local districts and delights young and old. For all parades please bring your own cups and drinking vessels for the serving of drinks.
