Zoo Day!

Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 10 AM – 5 PM, our local Kaiserslautern Zoo will be having “Zoo Tag” or Zoo Day. There will be a jungle obstacle course, face painting, riding course, zoo rally, and animals you can have a close encounter with. In addition, the falconer will entertain you on this day with his flight demonstranstrations. The in-house beekeeper will sell locally handcrafted candles and honey from our zoo bees.  Our zoo-restaurant with food and drinks is available for you on our festival meadow and the zoo-team has coffee and homemade cake for you. The team from the zoo welcomes you warmly and wishes you a nice day of adventure in the Zoo-Kaiserslautern.

Landstuhl Culinary Hike

There will be beer, music, food and fun during this culinary hike along a 5 mile trail from the Landstuhl Nanstein Castle to Kindsbach Barenloch. Food and drinks will be available at 6 points during the trail. The hike starts on Saturday from 11 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. Begin your hike at Nanstein Castle or Barenloch lake. Marmalade Market!

Head out to a Marmeladenmarkt in Johanniskreuz. If you love Jelly, this is your place! The market features a wide range of products that are characteristic for the harvest season. Visitors can purchase delicious and exotic creations such as cherry-cassis jelly, fig marmalade with rum, pumpkin chutney, fig mustard or chestnut honey. In addition, there will be a large choice of vinegars and home made liquors. Have some Flammkuchen, bratwurst, and other specialties. Farmer’s Market Fun!

The farmers market will be loaded this weekend with over 50 local vendors selling fall harvest items such as pumpkins, apples, sweet corn, handmade cheeses, fresh milk, juices, meats and more. There will also be handcrafted goods and arts demonstrations. There will be a program for the kids including face painting, pumpkin carving, a tractor course, and wheel of fortune! Children aged 6 to 11 years can also register for cooking classes for healthy food at the cooking bus. Three cooking classes will be offered throughout the market hours: from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.; 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. To participate at the cooking class please register with the Ramstein Youth Office by calling 06371/466742.
