Roasted Chestnuts and a HUGE Ktown Kerwe!

Eleven days full of fun and excitement - this is what the Oktoberkerwe promises again this autumn at the trade fair square in Kaiserslautern. The Kerwe will open tonight, the 19th of October, at 5:00 p.m. You will find fast-moving rides, cozy beer gardens and lots of culinary delights offer the nicest change from everyday life. From the 19th to the 29th of October small and big Kerwefans have the opportunity to celebrate properly. Special program points: On Wednesday, the 24th of October, is a big family day, at which the half-fare and entrance fees as well as the many special offers apply until 11 pm for the first time. Finally, with a magnificent thank-you fireworks, the fairgrounds and showmen say goodbye to their guests on Monday, October 29, at dusk.  Saturday, October 20 through October 29th, from 11 AM – 11 PM at Messeplatz, 67657 Kaiserslautern.

Chestnut Market

The village of Hauenstein hosts the oldest chestnut market of the Palatinate region. The chestnut, or Kastanian, is very popular and plentiful in Germany.Numerous booths offer various chestnut dishes and products such as bread, bratwurst, Saumagen (stuffed pig´s stomach), soup, cakes, liqueur etc. Furthermore, the vendor´s goods range from fruits, pumpkins, roasted chestnuts, honey to cheese, freshly smoked trout, Palatinate fruit brandy and wine (Federweißer). The market is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hauenstein is known as the shoemakers` village.
